Contact Nancy Reeves (nancy@mtwichita.org) or call (316) 265-3253 if you need more information.

Please bring a headshot and resumé with you to the audition.

You will be asked to sing one or two songs. All of our 2013 shows require fairly traditional Broadway singing styles. Comic songs, or selections sung with English accents, may be appropriate for some performers. You may choose to sing from our season’s shows, or not. Either way is fine with us. Sheet music should be in the appropriate key. We’ll have an excellent accompanist, but you may bring your own. No a capella singing or taped music, please.

Non-Equity performers wishing to be considered for our resident singing-dancing ensemble will also need to attend a dance/movement call.  MTWichita staff member and choreographer Josh Larson will conduct the dance auditions. We will be looking for general coordination from the singer-actors, and for highly developed jazz, tap and ballet skills from the dancer-singer-actors. Performers should also let us know if you have any special gymnastic skills.

Note: We always hope that our productions will reflect the cultural and racial diversity that we celebrate in our country. Performers from all backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Performers of Asian heritage are especially sought for “The King and I.”

Each show rehearses for approximately two weeks prior to its opening night (with our first show likely to begin rehearsal around June 1).

Compensation

Music Theatre of Wichita works with Actors’ Equity Association under the University/Resident Theatres Association (URTA) contract. Union performers work hand-in-hand with our resident non-union company members, who may choose to participate in the EMC (Equity Membership Candidate) program.

Basic salary is $400 per week for the non-Equity performers, with additional remuneration for principal and supporting roles, as cast. MTWichita does not provide housing for non-AEA performers, but a housing stipend is available for out-of-town artists.  Good housing is available at a reasonable cost, and within biking or walking distance. There is no compensation for children and teen performers.
