Teens / Children Auditions

Greetings to all the Talented Teens and Kids who auditioned for us last February.

Thanks for your patience, as we have viewed and re-viewed all our information, in order to finish this season’s casting for adults and young people. We do wish we had more room for children onstage this season, because we had so many truly talented youngsters show up!

This list is still a work in progress, because it seems we need to hold some callbacks for key roles.  After we hold those, various young people will be invited to join some of the shows.  So this isn’t quite the final list.

Note: this list has been updated to reflect some names we inadvertently missed when we compiled all our various worksheets, and also reflects some corrected show assignments.

Please do check all the categories for your names!  Categories include:

PERFORMING INTERNS – Teens hired at small salary for certain shows.
CALLBACKS – for certain Children, to explore casting specific roles.
LES MISERABLES – Children and Teens to be characters within the show.
(Note: All teens who choose to do the LES MIS Teen Choir will also be invited to participate in a backstage
workshop during the LES MIS performances, and to perform onstage in the finale of that show.)
THE KING AND I – Children and Teens to perform in the show
MARY POPPINS – Children and Teens to perform in the show
TEEN CHOIR – Pre-show entertainment onstage, prior to each performance.

If you are interested in Teen Choir, please review all rules and schedules.

Please email josh@mtwichita.org , and let us know if you can join us.

And thanks again for sharing your time and talents with us!

2013 TEEN CHOIR RULES AND SCHEDULES
Greetings!  We are busy getting ready for the summer season and are excited that the Teen Choir will once again perform all its concerts onstage.  We are still exploring new ways to showcase the choir, and we are thrilled at the opportunities this summer is presenting for us.

This year again Linda Starkey will be the Music Director and Joshua Larson will be the Staging Director.

Because we have chosen to have Teen Choir actually be part of our main stage entertainment, we must expect that if you sign up for a choir you will be in attendance for all the performances.  We know this is a big commitment, but we need the best and truest sound we can get at each performance, so that the Teen Choir can reach a high level of professionalism.  Please don’t sign up for any choir, if you can’t be at all the performances.

We will be having polo shirts again this year as our costume.  Each choir member will be given one shirt for the entire summer.  Replacement shirts or extras will need to be purchased from MTWichita.  Each choir member will be required to wear black dress pants.  We ask that you refrain from black jazz pants or black jeans.   We will be tucking in our polo shirts so a black belt and black shoes and socks will also be required.

If you are involved with any of the productions as a teen performer or apprentice, we highly encourage you to be a part of the Teen Choir during the same time.  We will work around any conflicts so that can be a part of both performing opportunities.

Listed below are the rules and standards for the Teen Choir, along with the rehearsal schedule throughout the summer.  Please read and respond back to me that you have read the rules and agree to them as being a part of the Teen Choir.  Please also include what shirt size you will be wearing along with the anticipated choirs you will be participating in. Please respond by Friday May 24th, with an email to
josh@mtwichita.org.

Example:

Joshua Larson has read and agrees to the rules of teen choir 2013
Shirt size: Large
Choirs expected to participate in:  #1, #3, and #5

Thank you again for being a part of our summer season.  The summers wouldn’t be the same without the Teen Choir and it has grown into something that is now a tradition of many who attend our shows.  I look forward to hearing back from you (by Friday May 24th) and seeing you this summer!

Joshua Larson, Teen Choir Director

TEEN CHOIR RULES 2013

Everyone is required to attend all rehearsals and performances for the choirs that you participate in.

Always come through the stage door (connecting door between Expo Hall and Century II).  If we do not meet in the Concert Hall Lobby there will be a sign of where to meet.

Rehearsal Times will always be Saturdays 11-1, Sundays and Mondays 5-7, and Tuesdays 6:30-Dress Rehearsal. with the exception of the choir #5 which we will rehearse Monday-Wednesday 5-7 and Thursday6:30-Dress Rehearsal.

Call Time before shows is 45 minutes before curtain.  (Sunday Supper Call Time will be announced during rehearsals.)  We are invited to eat dinner with the company and crew between the two shows on Sunday.  The choir will perform for them at this time also.  It is a great experience.  After we perform at the Sunday Supper the choir hangs out before our Sunday Evening performance.  Please email Josh if you have any questions about this.

Everyone is required to sign in before each performance/rehearsal.

No guests or friends backstage, at rehearsals, or in the rehearsal hall.

Approved and appropriate costume most be worn for all performances and dress rehearsal.

Black closed toe shoes must be worn at all performances and dress rehearsals.  For all rehearsals, closed toe shoes must also be worn to be able to participate.

No gum or perfume during rehearsals and performances. Rings, necklaces, and bracelets are not allowed.  Post earrings are permitted for ladies.  All other jewelry must be removed.

You must return your music before the end of each choir.
